Dream Chaser
This university project emerged from an original concept that I developed as a way of showcasing my visual storytelling ability. I envisioned a South Asian fantasy film set in a mythical world ruled by nature spirits. The story centers around a warrior that protects a hidden kingdom in the clouds, but embarks on an epic journey that takes him through other magical realms in the land and sea. I used this opportunity to create both illustration and branding collateral to imagine how this hypothetical film would be marketed in the real world.

I hand-lettered this logo so that I would have the freedom to develop letters that would naturally fit into the curvilinear “cloud” shapes that I wanted to incorporate. Even the less decorative text for “Chaser” was hand-lettered to give a very slight notion of the text being aged and imperfect.

Below are some more designs I created to extend this film into the context of promotion and merchandising. I developed a circular symbol as a central insignia as an additional element for the purpose of unifying the film’s branding. This symbol divides the circle into 3 spaces or “realms”, representing the films settings of the sky, the Earth, and the sea. I also incorporated a very stylized illustration of a Sarus crane to appear in some forms of the shape. This creature is a symbol of prosperity in Hindu mythology, and I included it in my story as the connecting element that travels through all 3 realms.
